Peata Williams

Chief Advisor, Iwi/Māori – Three Waters, DIA

Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga, Ngāti Pūkenga

Peata Williams is the second eldest of five or, as she puts it, ‘all the mataamua perks and none of the responsibility!’

Her checkered professional past includes stints working for iwi (Kāhui Legal) and working in iwi (Waikato-Tainui). This means that she eventually got tired and crossed over to be a stealthy advocate on the dark side (public servant ki Pōneke).

Peata is the only one of her mates who doesn’t have a Masters degree in law. Or a baby. But she does have her ride or die, Pīwari, a 2 year old shih tzu maltese furball, and a wicked sense of humour. He Tukutuku Koiora is part of Peata’s grand plan to finally figure out what she wants to be when she grows up.
